🎣Fishing

Off the coast of Emerald Shores lies an archipelago of diverse islands rich in aquatic life. Harsh weather, underwater traps and difficult terrain prevent players from traversing these waters, but the experienced fishermen of Emerald Shores are more than happy to help.

The exotic species of fish found around these remote islands are vastly different from the ones that randomly appear in the main worlds during fishing contests, and require a special fishing rod in order to catch them.

In order to obtain the Emerald Shores fishing rod, you need to talk to the island fisherman Gaco. You can find him next to the farm, standing in front of the fishing hut. You can also use the command /fish and head up the stairs. Right-click Gaco and he will share that he requires a legendary tier catch in order to trade one of his special fishing rods with you. You can obtain a legendary tier fish during one of the fishing contests covered in this guide.

Keep in mind that the emerald shores aquatic life is more stubborn than normal fish. Unlike regular fishing where you cast your lure, wait some time for the fish to bite and then simply right-click to catch it, these special fishes require you to have more experience and muscle strength in order to add them to your collection. Once a fish bites your lure, a minigame pops up:

Keep right-clicking to keep the line green and fill up the fishing meter. If you take too long your catch will escape.

There are five different locations where special fish spawn, with each location containing different types of fish. Visit each location to collect all available specimen and fill out the special Emerald Shores category in the Marine Encyclopedia.

The first location is the Emerald Shores island itself. You can fish right there on the pier without any travelling. The other four locations require you to talk to Salty Pete who is standing guard in front of his ship. Salty Pete is more than happy to show you around and only requires $3000 and 3 Emerald Shells to do so. The five total locations and the fish they contain are as follows:

  1. Emerald Shores island. The main island with all the friendy NPCs you spawn at. Includes: aurora, azure, celestial, coral, crystalfin and ember.

  2. Ellio's Garden. A tiny islet to the far north that is still lush even in the harsh winter conditions. Includes: enchanted, enigma, frostbite, frostfin, frostfire and frostscale.

  3. Mirion's Peak. A tall, chilly mountain surrounded by icy waters. Includes: gilded, glimmering, luminous, moonbeam, moonlit and mystic.

  4. Ykrok's Infernum. A hellish land of fire and death. Includes: oilchar, phantom, radiant, shadowfin, spectral and starbright.

  5. Runixstone. A garden, once brimming with activity, that now houses a ruined tower and enchanting flower fields. Includes: stardust, sylvan, thunderstrike, twilight, veilfin and whispering.

All fish types have a regular, silver and golden variants. On top of that, each of those variants has a shiny version which is extra exclusive, has 1% chance of being caught and gives you 3x as many gutting points.

No one around Emerald Shores is willing to buy your special catch, due to all the superstitions that have been spread over the years about their mystic abilities. Instead, you can gut your fish to collect gutting points and exchange those points with Marlin for fishing rod upgrades. The rarer the catch, the more gutting points you will get. Helpful commands:

  • /gutfish to open up a menu where you can pick which fish you want to gut.

  • /gutfishall to automatically gut all fish in your inventory.

  • /gutpoints or /guttingpoints to see the amount of gut points you currently have.

You can find Marlin near Gaco. Marlin's upgrades include vanilla enchantments such as Lure, Luck of the Sea, Unbreaking and Mending for when you use the Emerald Shores rod as a regular rod elsewhere in the main worlds. He also offers three special enchantments. Make sure to hold your Emerald Shores fishing rod in your main hand to access the upgrades menu.

  • Big Catch: Increases the average size of Emerald Shores fish you catch.

  • Double Net: Gives you a chance of catching two fish at once.

  • Ocean's Favor: Improves the rarity of Emerald Shores fish you catch.

Another thing to look out for are the wooden barrels that sometimes wash ashore in the five special locations. When a specific location is announced in chat, head over and cast your rod. Catching a wooden barrel can give you Emerald Shores fruits and ores.
